I wasn’t fully convinced the leads actually liked each other
I found that a stumbling block with Sword Dance, especially because I enjoyed Demas' first two very much. Almost Human was just really great, I loved it, and One Night in Boukos had kind of slow start, but I liked all the characters. So I didn't really enjoy spending that much time with fascists taking up page space and Varazda being grumpy. FWIW. :-)
