Yuletide Letter 2021
Dear Yuletide Author,
Ghosts (TV 2019) (Alison, Kitty, Robin)
My favourite thing about Ghosts is all the sincere odd-man friendships, and the ghosts I am most curious about are Kitty and Robin - Kitty because there's clearly a lot going on under the surface, and Robin because he's so old and must have seen so many people come and go. I'd love anything about Alison hanging out with either of them, or both, and I'm very happy for almost anybody else from the cast to show up, I like them all...except Thomas. Minor cameos only for Thomas, please. Plot-wise - any small domestic shenanigans you'd like. As a character note, I know Kitty is very bubbly and sometimes naive but she isn't a child; please don't infantilise her.
DNW: Ships outside of Alison/Mike, Thomas being a creep
First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this! Yuletide is one of my fannish highlights of the year and I’m really looking forward to whatever you write for me. If you’re interested in personalizing things a bit more, read on. If you find it easier to work with just the fandom/characters/DNWs, or have an idea that’s grabbed you already, don’t feel bound to any of the prompts here – they’re just intended as suggestions for people who like to use them.
Enchanted Forest Chronicles (Morwen)
I re-read these books this year and was very frustrated by the way the first one is inherently queer and then they get straitjacketed back into fitting with the last/first-written book. In particular I hated how Morwen is a narrator but never gets her own story. Give me a Morwen adventure that matters to Morwen! If it's a gardening contest I will love you forever, but anything will do. Dragons are a bonus. I love the clever use of fairytale tropes and narratives and Morwen's very practical magic. I also like her friendship with Cimorene.
Stuff I really like in fic includes: people being kind to each other, science (and SCIENCE!), mystery plots/casefic, found family, loyalty, women bonding and female friendship, queer communities, humour, happy endings, the exploration of worldbuilding and its implications (including via AUs), expansion on/use of minor canon details, and cracky premises/tropes treated with some seriousness.
Stuff I would really prefer not to see in exchange fic includes: darker interpretations of characters than canon, endings that feel hopeless, infidelity, noncon/dubcon, incest, child abuse (sexual and non-sexual), homophobia, transphobia, very explicit or detailed violence, torture, people being humiliated, embarrassment humour, and canon being changed or rewritten Just Because.
That said, in general adult elements of all sorts (sex, violence, swearing, discussion of mortgages) are fine; you won't go wrong if you stick to the tone of the canon.

DNW: Telemain/Morwen as a central part of the story, or Telemain as more than a cameo.
Unnatural Magic & The Ruthless Lady's Guide to Wizardry - C. M. Waggoner (Winn Cynallum)
I loved the first book but I LOVED Winn, who is a perfect mixture of her parents and yet her own person. I also love her relationship with Dellaria and you're welcome to include that, but what I really want to see is how she came to be the delightful person she is in Ruthless Lady's Guide, and how Tsira and Jeckran handled parenting her. Kidfic is totally okay here (with Winn as the kid). If you are writing about Winn and Dellaria, I'm always really interested when genre fiction deals realistically with cross-class relationships (as this one did) so I'd also be interested in something that dug into that and how they negotiate it as part of an ongoing relationship.

The Will Darling Adventures - K.J. Charles (Archie Curtis, Daniel da Silva, Maisie Jones, Phoebe Stephens-Prince)
I'm fine here with a story about either Archie and Daniel or Phoebe and Maisie, you don't have to do both - but if you got them all in I wouldn't be unhappy! I am FASCINATED by the glimpses we got of the Mysterious DS as an elder statesman of intelligence, and then the follow-up short story; basically anything with Daniel and Archie during the events of this series, while Kim and Will are making trouble all over and Daniel is tearing his hair out, would delight me. I am equally fascinated by Maisie and Phoebe's background romance. How is life for them in Paris? What do they talk about that isn't fashion or hats or Kim and Will (as much as I like Kim and Will)? Does Daniel recruit them to spy on someone in Paris?
